INTRODUCTION ABOUT MODALERT 200MG TABLET
MODALERT 200MG TABLET contains Modafinil, which belongs to a group of medicines known as Psychostimulants. It is used for the management of Narcolepsy in adult patients. MODALERT 200MG TABLET is also used for the management of obstructive sleep apnoea (obstruction of the airway during sleep), circadian rhythm sleep disorder and shift work disorder.
Narcolepsy can be defined as a rare long-term neural condition in which the sleep-regulating mechanism of the brain is altered. Narcolepsy can lead to excessive daytime sleepiness, lack of concentration, sleep attacks (suddenly falling asleep), cataplexy (temporary loss of muscle control leading to weakness and falling), sleep paralysis (it is a temporary inability to move or speak during waking up or falling asleep), excessive dreaming and waking in the middle of the night.
During management with MODALERT 200MG TABLET, your doctor may request a test for your heart called an electrocardiogram (ECG). You may also be monitored for your blood pressure and heart rate while you are taking MODALERT 200MG TABLET.
MODALERT 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from uncontrolled or moderate to severe high blood pressure and arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat) or who had a heart attack. MODALERT 200MG TABLET, should be used with caution in patients who have had liver diseases, kidney diseases, depression, anxiety, low mood, psychosis, mania, bipolar disorder, are alcoholic and recreational drug abuse.
MODALERT 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. MODALERT 200MG TABLET is also not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age. Specific serious side effects may include depression, aggression or hostility towards other people or suicidal thoughts or other changes in your behaviour. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any such side effects.
The most common side effect of taking MODALERT 200MG TABLET are headache, dizziness, sleepiness, insomnia (inability to fall asleep), nervousness, anxiety, stuffy nose, back pain, extreme tiredness, weakness, palpitations, chest pain, dry mouth, redness of the face, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach-ache, indigestion, diarrhoea or constipation, blurred vision, irritability, numbness or tingling sensation in hands or feet, abnormal liver enzymes. Contact your doctor if any of your side effects get worse.
